Java is our preferred language for coding as it is to a great extent portable across different platforms, Windows, Mac, Linux.....

Software programmes can vary from being quite simple desktop applications, for example providing indication lookups for Acupuncture practitioners, or complex networked applications bringing together data from multiple remote databases for example to find gene function across different species.
