Composition

A long association with both theatre and dance companies has provided the opportunity for Derek to create soundscapes as live performance, pre-recorded soundtrack or a mixture of both.

Often the dancers/actors themselves will be integrated into the score and the improvised nature of the rehearsal period is important to this collaboration.

He has worked and toured with a variety of companies over the years including:

• State Theta (Collaborative Arts Performance Company)

• The David Glass Ensemble

• TAG Theatre company

• Rotating Dancers

• Dundee Dance Academy

In addition to theatre work Derek has also written for Rachaka (3rd Stream Contemporary Music Quartet), and composed for several short films including 'Life Foundation'.
